Basic Type – Nick Kapica

this is a gallery of the results from a 4 hour task to design a poster using supplied type and grid. this task is a summary to a 12 week basic design course at coca massey based on the type programme geoff white introduced to ravensbourne and familiar to many other design schools.

i would like hear what you think about this approach to type instruction:
— is it still relevant?
— are there better ways of providing designers with fundamental typographic skills?
— do designers still need ’old fashioned‘ making skills such as typography?
